National Park Seminary

This $120 million project is an approximately 200,000 square foot adaptive re-use of a historic girl’s finishing school just inside the beltway in Silver Springs, MD. The site consists of a compilation of buildings and additions built between 1885 and 1930. The existing roof systems ranged from slate, asbestos tile, asphalt shingles, roll roofing, and metal standing seam. The exterior cladding was originally wood shakes but has been covered with stucco. TBS supported the architect of record, Alexander Company, with the investigation of the existing conditions and the design and documentation of the new window, roof, and wall systems.
